Several new perks unlocked today.

I got the word that the team wants to unlock 4 perks.  Swift feet,  swifter feet,  knowledge is power and easy cards.  Good choices on all 4. Swift feet will decrease the teams total time by 1 minute thus saving you a lot of burpees, if you miss the set time hack.  Swifter feet will allow 1 persons time to not be counted against your time hack.  This person must be chosen before the run and they must finish the run for it to count. Knowledge Is power is a great boost this time around.  I am not like Neil and have issues with this part but knowing the subjects this time will be very beneficial and I will reveal them in a post after this one. Easy cards has also been purchased. As a reward I will remove the card game in its entirety. Unless you all just want to play in hopes to pull that joker in me. So good choices on perks and there is still some time left to get some more points and unlock more perks.

Final challenge

Ok guys,  less than a week away and there are several more challenges we did not get to repeat.  Any challenge is now up for grabs, the inky rule is it has to be better than last time.  By better I mean faster times,  more reps,  more weight.  So this will not include writing another essay. So submit your videos or screenshots by Thursday night and I will add the points.  All the bad perks have been removed but none if the good perks have been purchased except the 3 free stress cards.  Have fun and let's be creative.

And the incentive awards go to...

Kris V. - (Finishing the MoaT ultramarathon with a ruck), No ruck required for the T3.
Jason V. - (Finishing the MoaT Marathon with a ruck), No ruck required for one lap of the T3.
Neil M. - (Finishing the MoaT ultramarathon with a ruck), No ruck required for the T3.
Scott S. - (Finishing the MoaT Marathon with a ruck), No ruck required for one lap of the T3.
Jose A. - (Finishing the MoaT ultramarathon with a ruck), No ruck required for the T3.

All negative perks have been removed, and then some

The team has voted!  After earning over 100 points in pregame challenges, all bad perks have been removed from the event with plenty of good perks open for unlocking.

All have been smashed!

All have been smashed!

In addition, 3 of the 5 stress cards have been rewarded to the team for their successful completion of instructor Ben's challenges!  A 'stress card' (named after a joke) enables a person in the class to remove their ruck for a lap of their choosing.  It seems that the greatest perk of this T3 is the sheer class size.  Perhaps this will be the very first event where they destroy the trivia/geography/mental games in lap 4...

Challenge 15

Just like in round 1 this is going to be an easy one. The first time we all shared some basic info about ourselves, this time we go a little deeper to get to know a little more about each other. Let's all share a story or excerpt from our journey that brought us here to this challenge we have put before us or what you are expecting to gain from this T3 challenge. It can be a couple sentences or a couple paragraphs. There is 1 point for all who share and a bonus point for that person who goes the extra mile and really put some thought into this challenge. Ben and I will decide who gets the bonus point(s). So let's see what you got.

You have until Dec 12th to complete this. If everyone completes this assignment you will get a perk unlocked for purchase.

as usual I will start.

I got into OCRs because I had to start running and road running was absolute torture to me ( still is) . I was coming up on my first black belt test and part of it was a 3 mile run, this , at the time, was scary to me, I hadn't ran in 20 years. I started run/ walking mud runs and each time I could run more and hurt less, so I kept going. Then I ran across MUDRUNFUN . My whole life changed after that. Watching their posts and constant running motivated me to run more mud runs and multiple laps at each mud run. Then eventually I ran across the T3. My whole life changed again. I went from a once every few months mud runner to a 4 time T3, dozen gorucks, Spartan trifecta, tough mudder, rugged maniac and whatever else I could manage to get myself into running guy. This year has by far been a favorite year of mine, lots of travel , lots of great new friends and lots of great accomplishments, I am hoping next year will be even better. Cadreing this event is just icing on the cake and I hope you all have as much fun as I hope to.

The prediction

Every T3 appears to follow the same model of participation, DNS and DNF rates.  It'll be an intriguing prediction for a class of this size, but there are always 'those guys' who sign up and are curiously absent from all challenges, or just seem disconnected from the enthusiasm from the event.  You know - the same kind of enthusiasm and dedication you see from that guy who was given a gym membership for Christmas and only shows up to the gym two times.

So, here are the predictions for this event -
Of the 22 who signed up, 17 will actually show up.
Of the 17 who show up, 14 will make it to the end.
Of those 14 who make it to the end they will earn their place.

The secret is that the cadre want to be wrong.  They want to see you do amazing things that you never thought you could do.

So prove them wrong.  Both parties will be smiling in the end.

Challenge 14 The flutter kick

Next challenge is 1 minute of flutter kicks. We are doing the 4 count flutter kick and this time we will have our 10 % bodyweight over our heads while completing the exercise.

Again there is no minimum,  just knock them out and keep going for 1 minute ( keep them legs off the ground). I will be posting a video Monday or Tuesday since Big Daddy( goruck cadre) had us doing them by the hundreds yesterday. if you already did your flutter kicks and want to get an extra point, you have to beat your previous score and that time will be determined by my time( to be posted Monday or tuesday).  If you didn't do your flutter kicks before you are only eligible for 1 extra point for doing more than me.

Scoring.

1 minute video equals 1 point.

Video of more flutter kicks than you did last time in a quicker time than mine equals 2 points.

Video of more flutter kicks than me in a faster time ,with same bodyweight % equals 3 points.

YoYou have until Monday,  November 30th.

400 flutterkicks or 16 video submissions will unlock another perk for purchase. Less than a month to go.  Let's get some more points and unlock those perks.

Challenge 13- ruck pushups

It's been quiet around here,  I know everybody had busy weekends with different races.  So now we get back to basics.  Ruck push-ups.  We are moving the weight up but I'm giving you more time to get to your previous number.  The weight will be 15% body weight and you will go for 1.5 minutes.  The key is to keep going.  Any video attempting the push-ups will get a point.  To get an extra point you must complete 2 of these 3 requirements. 1-stay off your knees and keep attempting push-ups,  2 - beat your previous score or 3- beat my score.  IIf you can do all 3 - 2 bonus points. 200 total push-ups will unlock another perk for purchase.

If you did not do the previous push up challenge you must beat my number to get bonus point, and you are not eligible for 2nd bonus point,  but you can still do the previous challenge for 1/2 credit.

You have until November 24th to complete this challenge.

Challenge 12 or challenge 1 part 2

Round 2 is here.  I know some of you were wondering why I was choosing easy weights and having easy or no time hacks. Well here is to reason.  Let's make them all a little harder this round.  We start with the 5 mile ruck march.  Tere is still not going to be a time hack and you should have 10% bodyweight in your ruck. But this time you must also carry 10% bodyweight.  You can carry anything you want but it can not have a strap or a handle. Tires, buckets without handles, plates without holes,  box of bricks and cinderblocks are OK but no laptop bags or 2nd ruck sacks worn on your chest. I carried a 20lb box of bricks for 6 miles with my 26lb ruck. Item must be carried,  not drug or rolled.  Try to keep it up the entire time,  remember this is all practice for   the T3. The better you do now the easier it will be then.  Good luck

Just like the first time there is no due date,  but you will not be able to accumalate any more points till its done. This is the core of T3 so you must be prepared to do this for long distances. I will continue to track any further challenges points but will not add them on till this challenge is done.

Bonus. Just like last time if you run a mud run ( at least 4.3 miles) with at least a 10 lbs ruck and a 10 lbs item,  I will take this as credit. If the mud run is shorter than 4.3 walk around the Mudrunfun tent till you get the distance.

Bad perks so far

The team has been racking up loads of points, which comes natural when you have a class size this humongous.  So far only two bad perks remain for the team.  From there they will most likely start working on the good perks.

Challenge 11 Jumping Jacks

1 minute video of jumping jacks. Do as many 4 count jumping jacks in 1 minute as you can. You may go as slow as you want but you must keep going for the video to count. Every qualifying video gets a point. Everyone who gets 36 or more 4- count jumping jacks gets extra point. Perk unlock will be after I get a total of 300 jumping jacks on video.

Due date is Monday November 2, midnight.

Challenge 10 ruck sack planks

Ruck sack planks are up next. We are going with 10% body weight and minimum qualifying time is 1 minute. You must stay off your knees for 1 minute. You can be on your hands or elbows or rotate between the 2. Knees and legs must not be supported in any way other than your own feet and arms. Any video over 2 minutes gets 2 points. I must get 22 total minutes of video to unlock a perk.

Bonus. Carry 30 lbs or more and beat my time you get an extra point and an automatic perk unlock slot for your whole team.

Deadline is next Wednesday November 4th , midnight.

Challenge 9

Pull-ups!  I suck at these too,  bit I'm working on it.  Your challenge is to get on a bar and knockout as many pull-ups or chin-ups , without dismounting.  You can change grips or use whichever hand position you'd like.  I did 12 so that's the mark to beat.  Every video entry gets 1 point,  no matter how many pull-ups.  Every person who does more than 12 gets an extra point.  If the team gets over 200 pull-ups,  everyone gets a point. Let's get it done by October 27, midnight.

If you can't do a pull-up send me a video of a negative and dead hang of 30 seconds or longer.

Challenge 8

3 mile run. Many of you know I am not a fast runner, so you will not have a hard time with this challenge. Just post a 3 mile run on or before October 26, midnight. You've got plenty of time to complete this challenge so I should not have a problem getting at least 18 entries. There is no time hack, every entry from each person gets 1 point. Post all pictures in the comment section below my run and tag someone in it. If the team gets below a 9 minute mile average , everyone gets an extra point. Every post below an 8 minute per mile average gets a point. The maximum amount of points per person is 2. I will be out of the country from Monday the 19th till the 26th, I don't know if I'll have wifi or cell service so you may not hear from me till Monday evening(26th). So you have to ask any questions before I leave. Good luck and have fun.

Challenge 7

Overhead ruck sack with 15% body weight. Must hold ruck up for 1 minute, ruck must be overhead not on head. I just want a picture no long boring videos like mine, see FB later. This is an easy one so I'll give you a short due date. October 19th at noon. I'll be on a plane to Costa Rica after that for a week and I don't know what kind of service I will have. We're using honor system and if you can't make the whole minute redo the challenge please. If you just can't do it, talk to me and keep practicing.

Record attendance so far

So far, 21 people have stepped into the arena. This will be the first class ever to have gone over 20 people, and there is no sign of things letting up!
