Challenge #5 - I love eight counts

This next challenge teaches coordination and control, which is a must for any aspiring OCR athlete.  If you don't know what eight count bodybuilders are, use the vast expanse of knowledge known as the internet to figure it out.  Here are the rules:

  • Total count:  25
  • No time limit
  • Finish your 25 and earn a point
  • Finish all 25 without taking more than a one second break in between sets to earn an additional point
  • Challenge due by 1pm this Saturday
  • Those doing these at the Team Regiment Water PT session will earn an additional point.

Each class will have their own set of identical perks to unlock.  Enjoy!

Recommended watch

One of the biggest facepalm moments encountered at an OCR is when these superathletes completely suck in the water.  The T3 is designed to train you for some of the highest caliber events out there, so water PT will definitely be a part of your curriculum.  For that, we have this helpful video that may or may not directly tie in to one of the exercises you'd be doing at the T3.

Classes slowly filling up, so let's mix it up.

It seems that people are starting to hop on the bandwagon, at least for one of the two classes.  The other class has been quiet lately, which is never a good sign!  The quiet ones who don't communicate at all are usually the ones who won't show up.  That's okay, it just makes it even more glorious for those who do show up.

To those who are still on the fence about joining, here's the deal.  Listen up.

For the next week (Thats from the 19th to the 26th of this month), anybody who signs up will be able to retroactively complete ANY expired challenges.  In addition, for every person who registers, EVERY participant will earn a point.

Every.  Freaking.  Participant.

You know how in a videogame where you come across a treasure trove of gear and the game autosaves?  You know something big is about to go down.  Think of it as that.

Have fun.

Challenge 4 - BUUUURRRRPEEEESSSS

If you're going to be doing any event with the word 'Spartan' in it, chances are you have to be well adapted at doing burpees.  Since this is tailored on training people for all kinds of endurance events, we shall now commence with the burpees!  This challenge is super simple.  Here is what you'll be doing:

You have one minute to perform the burpees.  Within that minute, you can earn the following:

  • 0-9 burpees - 0 points.  I mean.. c'mon
  • 10-20 burpees - 1 point
  • 21-25 burpees - 2 points
  • 26-28 burpees - 3 points
  • 28+ burpees - 4 points
  • Due date is 11:59pm on the 20th of March.
  • Have your video made at an OCR event (or MoaT) and earn 1 additional point

Pretty simple, right?

Challenge 3 - Citizenship in the nation.

Regiment Elites are very inspirational people. Your actions fan the flames of change in those who witness your actions. To start, inspiring others can begin as merely being the change you want in this world. Sometimes that can be done outside of endurance challenges.

This is a very simple challenge. To many participants, today is a primary voting day. Simply post proof of your voting (the sticker they give would suffice) for a point!  You don't have to say who you voted for or anything.

Incentive

Neil here.

So about 10 people I spoke with at BattleFrog expressed 'interest' in signing up for the T3.  Some were more adamant and confident in this interest, others seemed to say it out of temporary appeasement and as a conversation piece.

So let's see who is serious.

Those who spoke to me (you know who you are) who sign up for either the April 16th or 30th T3 from now until Saturday evening at 11:59pm will automatically enter the event with FOUR points to their name.  If you're unsure about what these points are used for, just ask any Regiment Elite why they're so important, and why four is a gigantic amount of points to be offered at once.

Sometimes the hardest part is signing up.  If there's one thing I like, it's eliminating people's excuses.

Challenge 2 - Good ol' Running

Since we're still starting off these pregame challenges, we'll keep things simple.  Lap 2 always consists of a six mile run.  So in order to prepare you for said run, you will do said run.  You now have the benefit of doing the run perfectly fresh and without the soul crushing disadvantage of having done laps 0 and 1, so your run time should be good.  On to the rules:

  • Run must be a complete six miles.  No pauses in between (your gps app will give it away if you do).
  • No treadmills.  Sorry, you can't just turn a treadmill on and let it run for six miles while you blerch it up.
  • Run must be 10:45/mi average to receive a point.
  • Finish at 9:00/mi or faster to get two points.
  • Submit your challenge by submitting your results and tagging Team Regiment or Neil Murphy on Facebook.
  • Challenge submission for both classes is due at 11:59pm, March 16th.

As a reminder, these challenges are always optional.  Don't feel bad if you have a busy schedule for this week.  It happens to the best of us.  The purpose of these challenges is to not only gauge the skill of the class but to prepare the class for events such as the Agoge, Death Race or any other big event that has pre-game gear lists and exercises.  Have fun!

Challenge 1 - push-ups!

Well, we've got to five registrants for either the 16th or the 30th..

Which means that the party has officially started.

Challenge 1 was posted on the Team Regiment Facebook page, but all challenges will be posted here in the long run.  The due date for this challenge (which applies to BOTH classes) is at 11:59pm on Monday the 14th of March.  In your video submission, be sure to tag Team Regiment on Facebook or Neil.

We now have five registered for the T3s! With that, challenge number one is now live! Now 53 push-ups in a minute is a crazy amount, so let's modify the rules a bit. Instead of getting 53 or 4 less for a point, just get 31 push-ups in a minute for 1 point. However for every 4 you get on and above 53, you get a bonus point!Pregame challenge videos will be uploaded here but all challenge details can be found at www.regimentrunning.com/t3live

April 16th and April 30th in one

With two T3s only two weeks apart from each other, it's time to make some clarifications:

  • Challenges will be issued to both classes at once
  • Any class can donate points to any other class
  • As soon as the total registrations of both classes reaches 5, challenges begin.
  • The routes for each class will be different.

Dipping their toes in the water

As is usual for the T3, many have expressed interest but have yet to take the plunge and register for the April 16th trials.  Until five register, pregame challenges will remain locked!
