Lake swim

It's a perfect day for a swim, so the team must cross the lake and back.  There's no time limit, but it always pays to be a winner.

Five minutes of silence

No talking.  No movement.  Five minute countdown.  After each candidate thinks they're done, they silently raise their hand.  If they're right, no consequence, and you gain a burpee point.  If you're too early, you lose your points.

Bonus lap

Roll call and rules.  The entire crew is here and ready to rock.  Neil's giving them the orientation before lap 0.

The pregame bonus lap

Candidates must cover their heads with their rucks and internally count ten minutes. They will individually raise their hands when they think they've counted to ten minutes.

Raise your hand before 10 minutes and you lose all points.

Get0-30 seconds after 10 minutes and earn a point

Anything else results in no bonus

The forecast

It's going to be incredibly hot today. 92 with little clouds and a lot of humidity from the isolated thunderstorms from the night before. Heat casualties are a very real and probable thing that commonly occur during lap 2. The prediction is that two will drop at the second lap. Let's see what happens...

Final loadout

Looks like the April 30th class trained well!  With easy cards and a mile knocked off of their second lap, it is clear that they are taking this event very seriously.  The final point loadout for the team is 44, divided evenly among everyone.  There will be no more challenges issued on this page.  Hydrate well and double your calories for now!

Challenge #8 - 5 miles of fun

This challenge will be the last pregame challenge posted.  Challenge 7 had both teams working together to help out the April 16th class, so now it's time for it to be switched around.  Here are the rules:

April 16th -
Run 5 miles at a pace no slower than 10:15/mi
Doing so earns the April 30th class 1 point

April 30th -
Run 5 miles.  No pace requirement, so by all means slack off.  We'll remember.
Not doing so results in the individual losing 1 point.

Simple enough?  This challenge is due April 27th at 11:59pm.

And now another team braces themselves

Just a little over a week until the April 30th class steps up for their turn.  It goes without saying that they're panning for whatever advice the 16th class can give.  However it will be useless.  The April 30th course will be different.  One lap will be disproportionately long, while another might be shorter depending on the speed of the slowest person!
